🔒 Privacy & Security
Understanding exactly how your data is handled — and why TG2PDF is safe to use with sensitive conversations.

Yes — completely. TG2PDF processes everything locally inside your browser using JavaScript. Your chat files and any generated PDFs never leave your device. They are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any server.

This is not simply a privacy policy claim — it is a technical reality. TG2PDF has no backend servers involved in the conversion process. We are architecturally incapable of receiving your data.

No, categorically. We do not receive your files at any point — which means there is nothing to store, analyse, or sell. Your conversations remain entirely on your own machine from start to finish.

The only third-party services that receive any data when you visit TG2PDF are Google Fonts (for typography) and optionally Google AdSense. These services may receive standard browser metadata such as your IP address and user agent when the page loads. Your actual chat files and generated PDFs are never involved.

If an error occurs, all processing stops inside your browser. No partial or corrupted data is sent anywhere. The tool is provided as-is and we do not accept liability for conversion errors, data loss, or any consequences arising from use.

All processing remains entirely under your local control at all times, regardless of what happens during conversion.

TG2PDF itself does not use tracking cookies or analytics beyond what is standard for serving advertisements. Google AdSense, if active, may use cookies as part of its advertising service in accordance with Google's own privacy policies.

We do not personally identify visitors, track conversion history, or log any details about which files you process.

🛠️ Usage & Features
How to get the most out of TG2PDF, from exporting chats to customizing your PDF output.

You need the Telegram Desktop app (available at telegram.org/desktop). The mobile app does not support JSON export. Once installed:

  • Open any private chat, group, or channel
  • Click the ⋮ menu in the top-right corner
  • Select Export Chat History
  • Choose JSON as the format (not HTML)
  • Click Export and wait for it to complete
  • You'll have a folder containing a result.json file

Upload that result.json file (or the whole folder as a .zip) to TG2PDF.

Yes — TG2PDF works with all Telegram export types: private chats, group chats, supergroups, and channels. All participant names are included in the output.

If you enter your own name in the "Your Name in Chat" field, your messages will be visually distinguished (highlighted in a different colour) in both the live preview and the final PDF — making it easier to identify the conversation thread at a glance.

TG2PDF inserts clearly labelled placeholders wherever media appears in the conversation:

  • 📷 Photo
  • 🎥 Video or Video File
  • 🎵 Voice Message or Audio File
  • 🎞️ GIF / Animation
  • 🎨 Sticker (with emoji if available)
  • 📎 File (with filename if available)
  • 📍 Location, 👤 Contact, 📊 Poll

This preserves full conversational context — you can see exactly when and where media was exchanged — without embedding files in the PDF.

Yes. Once downloaded, your PDF is a standard document that can be printed from any application that supports PDF files — Adobe Acrobat, your browser, Preview on Mac, or any PDF viewer. You can also share it digitally, upload it to cloud storage, or attach it to emails.

No. TG2PDF has no artificial message limit. Whether your export contains 100 messages or 100,000, the converter will process all of them and paginate the output cleanly across as many PDF pages as needed.

Very large exports (50,000+ messages) may take a few extra seconds on slower devices, but will complete successfully. The live preview is capped at 200 messages for performance, but the final PDF always includes everything.

⚖️ Legal & Compliance
Important information for legal professionals, investigators, and anyone using TG2PDF for official documentation purposes.

TG2PDF produces clean, structured, timestamped, chronological records that legal professionals find useful for case review, annotation, and file management. The output is accurate to the original Telegram export data.

⚠️Admissibility as formal legal evidence varies significantly by jurisdiction, court type, and case circumstances. Always consult a qualified lawyer or certified digital forensics professional before submitting any chat record to a court or legal proceeding. TG2PDF is a document conversion tool, not a legal service.

You are solely responsible for how converted files are used and shared. This includes compliance with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction, including privacy laws, data protection regulations, consent requirements, and any court-specific evidentiary rules.

TG2PDF is a tool only. Converting a chat does not grant you legal rights to use that content in any particular way. Sharing another person's private communications without consent may have legal consequences depending on your location.

TG2PDF can produce organized, readable PDF records from Telegram exports that investigators, compliance teams, and regulatory bodies may find useful for review and archival purposes.

Because conversion is entirely local, there is no third-party server handling of source chat files at any point — which may be relevant to chain-of-custody considerations.

⚠️All use must comply with applicable legislation, agency policy, and any relevant legal authorization requirements. TG2PDF does not provide forensic certification or tamper-evident output.

We strive to produce accurate output that faithfully represents the source Telegram JSON export. However, TG2PDF makes no guarantees regarding completeness, formatting accuracy, or legal admissibility of generated documents.

This tool is provided "as is" without warranties, express or implied. Use at your own risk and always verify output against your original source data for critical applications.

⚙️ Technical Details
Under the hood — how TG2PDF works, what formats it supports, and what happens to your files.

TG2PDF accepts the standard output from Telegram Desktop's native export feature:

  • result.json — the raw JSON file from a Telegram export folder
  • messages.html — the HTML export file from Telegram Desktop
  • .zip — a zipped export folder; TG2PDF automatically locates result.json or messages.html inside, and embeds any photos or media found in the archive

Both JSON and HTML export formats are supported. JSON is recommended for the most complete output (all message metadata). If you exported as HTML, TG2PDF will parse it automatically.

TG2PDF works in all modern browsers that support the File API and JavaScript ES6+. This includes:

  • Google Chrome 80+
  • Mozilla Firefox 75+
  • Microsoft Edge 80+
  • Safari 14+
  • Brave, Opera, and other Chromium-based browsers

Internet Explorer is not supported. For the best experience, use a current version of Chrome or Firefox.

When you upload a file, your browser reads it into memory using the JavaScript File API. The JSON is parsed, messages are processed, and a PDF is constructed using jsPDF — an open-source JavaScript library that runs entirely client-side.

At no point is any network request made with your data. The entire pipeline — file reading, parsing, PDF generation, and download — happens within your browser tab. When the tab is closed, all data in memory is discarded.

The TG2PDF website is mobile-responsive and will display correctly on phones and tablets. However, Telegram's chat export feature is only available in Telegram Desktop (for Windows, macOS, and Linux) — not in the mobile apps.

The typical workflow is: export on a desktop or laptop, then if needed, open TG2PDF on any device to convert the file. You can transfer the result.json file to a phone and upload it from there if needed.

💬 General
General questions about TG2PDF, its pricing, and its relationship with Telegram.

Yes — TG2PDF is completely free to use with no account, no subscription, and no conversion limits. There are no hidden charges at any stage.

The service is supported by non-intrusive display advertising (Google AdSense). Seeing ads is the only "cost" of using TG2PDF. You are never asked to pay for anything.

No account, login, registration, or email address is required. Open the page, upload your file, generate your PDF, download it. That's it.

We deliberately avoid requiring accounts because doing so would necessitate storing information about you — which goes against our privacy-first approach.

No. TG2PDF is an independent, third-party tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to Telegram Messenger Inc. or its parent company.

TG2PDF simply reads the standard JSON format that Telegram Desktop produces when you use its built-in Export Chat History feature. We do not access the Telegram API, your Telegram account, or any Telegram servers.

We'd love to hear from you. For bug reports, feature requests, or any general questions about the tool, you can reach our team directly at tg2pdf@gmail.com.

When reporting a conversion issue, please include: the type of file you uploaded (JSON, ZIP, or HTML), the approximate number of messages, the browser you are using, and any error message displayed. This helps us diagnose and resolve issues quickly.

Please do not attach actual chat files or any personal data to your email. A description of the problem is all we need — we never need to see your messages.
